The Paralympics

The Paralympics are for people who have disabilities.
The Paralympics were first held in Rome in 1960.The most successful Paralympians were Tanni Grey-Thompson and David Roberts.
The Paralympics are the second largest sports competition in the world after the Olympics.
Like the Olympics the Paralympics are a competition of people with the highest athletic ability.
The name Paralympics comes from a Greek prefix Para.
The 2012 Paralympic games have twenty games and sixteen of them are also in the Olympics like archery, athletics [track and field].wheelchair basketball, cycling, equestrian and ten more other sports as well.
The Paralympics 2012 are being held at London just like the Olympics were.

The Paralympics is held two weeks after the real Olympics. People without arms or legs can participate in the Paralympics. The Paralympics was first held in Rome, 1960.

Sophie Pascoe won gold in 100m Butterfly in swimming. She lost her leg in a bad lawn mowing accident.

There are lots of events in the Paralympics.
