Our Awesome Trip to M.O.T.A.T.
It was a warm sunny day on our trip day, Tuesday 1st of May. We went to M.O.T.A.T. the invention museum. Firstly, we lined up with the other Middle School class as we walked into the bus one by one.
When we got there, we got into the groups that were set up by Mrs Morris the day before our trip. We were greeted by a teacher called Nicolle. She led us to a room in which we were going to have morning tea and lunch. We all sat down and she introduced herself to us. She told us some things that we would be doing and where we would meet.
After she finished talking we started to eat our morning tea. When we finished, we put our bags in one of the dark corners and we set off to the classroom. We were the first to go to the classroom. We went into a big, large hall, and went upstairs. We walked into the classroom and Nicole started to tell us about inventions made in different years. Then she showed us some things made by accident. There were lots of things made by accident.
Did you know that the thing that you hang up and the flies stick to is actually made sort of by accident as well? I’ll tell you about it. There was once this man who had this green house and he planted some potatos in the green house. All the fruit flies were eating it. But that day he was wearing a yellow jacket and when he walked away, all the flies followed. Then he got this idea. He got some yellow coloured strips, put them into oil and then took them out again, tied them to the bars of the green house and the flies got stuck. when all the flies were killed he wiped it and dipprd it into oil again.
I even saw the olden day pen. It was very sharp and you had to dip it into ink to use it. There were also feather pens. You also had to dip them into ink to use but first you had to cut the very top off or else you couldn’t write because the ink wouldn’t go in.
Then we went to visit all around the exhibits. We went to the telecommunications room. It was so cool. There were different types of phones and we gost to play with them! The phone could really call each other.
Next we went to see different types of cameras and there was this huge camera. That camera looked so old fashioned.
After that, we went to the mirror maze. It was mirrors all over the maze!
Then we went to see a thing with fire. I’m not quite sure what that thing was.
Next we went to the playing room. There was this thing that had a table and seats. When you pressed a green button it would start shaking. It was like an earthquake.
Afterwards, we went to this room with an olden day car in the centre. There was a corridor on a corner. We went in and we were in another room. This room was a really pretty room. It had fancy seats that were coloured red and a long staircase. We saw a big tram and it had a red carpet in the middle. We walked up the staircase and we saw lots more inventions. Then we spied on something that we didn’t know. It had metal stuff in it and it could glow. We kept on walking and we saw this racing car. It was so cool! It showed a picture of someone in this car racing.
Next we walked all the way through and finally, we got to another staircase. We walked down and we got back to the tram.
The next spot we went was the playing room again! We loved that place so much!
Then it was time to go back to school. But we still had a treat of riding the tram. We waited for the tram to arrive patiently and the tram finally arrived. I cheered silently to myself. We hopped in excitedly and the tram started to move. When we stopped, another school came on the tram. The tram stopped and we hopped off and said thank-you to the tram driver.
We went back to M.O.T.A.T. got our bags and went on the school bus. What a wonderful day!
