Olympics Day
By Sarah
On Friday it was Sunnyhills Olympic day and I was representing Germany with Mr Tucker.
On Friday we were allowed to wear the colours of our country’s flag and since I was Germany I had to wear the colours: Red, yellow and black.
We were first in our normal classes to call the roll and then we went to our adopted countries to call the roll.
First, my Germany team tried to come up with a chant and we came up with:
Duichland, Duichland
Uber alles
Duichland, Duichland
United we stand!
We did try to find something that rhymes with Germany but nothing rhymes with Germany so we ended up with that.
Later on we played a fun game called balloon volleyball and my team was called the red team and my team won.
Next it was time to go to the opening ceremony and Ms Small dressed up as the Queen and said, “I now declare Sunnyhills Olympics open!” and then we left.
We practised our chant one more time and then it was morning tea.
The whole time in between morning tea and lunch I played games and some of the games we played were straw throwing, ball throwing, hockey golf and cup stacking.
At the end of the day we went to the Closing Ceremony and we walked around the whole hall in our country’s groups and showed off what we had done during the day. We showed what we looked like and then we stood in a line up the front and said our chant. Once every country had walked around the hall and said their chant Ms Small stood up on the stage (dressed in her Queen clothes) and said, “I now declare the Sunnyhills Olympics closed!”
After Ms Small had said that the Sunnyhills Olympics was closed everyone made a loud grunting noise and ooohhh man! And it was funny to hear.
Next we left and went back to our normal classrooms and then we went home.
I had a fun day.
We thought that it was really interesting that you told us what colours were on your flag.
